Puerto Rico Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPRDP by its initials in Spanish) President Luis A. Rodríguez Díaz announced Wednesday that veteran journalist David Reyes Vázquez has been appointed vice president of WIPR-TV, Channel 6.

“David Reyes Vázquez has been a member of the WIPR team for forty years. He has excelled in professionalism in both radio and television, becoming part of our viewers’ family as the anchor of Notiséis,” Rodríguez Díaz said. “With a long history in the television industry, he is the ideal person to serve as vice president.”

The CPRDP president highlighted that Reyes Vázquez has been recognized as an “Outstanding Employee” by his colleagues. Additionally, organizations such as the Puerto Rico Committee for UNICEF and the Overseas Press Club have recognized his work. In 2016, the anchor was nominated for an Emmy Award.

“We are confident that with this addition, we will bring to the table other perspectives that will benefit our projects and the product we deliver to every home through the screen,” he said. “We are proud to have a professional of David Reyes’ caliber on our team.”

Reyes Vázquez, who will continue in his role as journalist and anchor of Notiséis, welcomed the appointment.

“I am extremely grateful and honored for the trust placed in me to serve in this position,” he said. “For four decades, I have dedicated myself to news coverage through radio and television. Today, I accept this new challenge with a firm commitment to continue contributing to the information and education of the people of Puerto Rico.”
