Artist, art critic, lecturer, teacher and consultant Abdías Méndez Robles has launched a solo exhibit at the 1758 McCleary Street Gallery titled “Anthology, Chromatic Line in Time.”
Born in San Juan in 1959, Méndez Robles is not only an artist but also has an extensive educational background, holding bachelor’s degrees in fine arts and finance & economics, a master’s degree in current art, a doctorate in naturopathy, and other certifications.
He began his artistic journey in the late 1970s and has since had more than 90 exhibitions. His works often touch on spiritual themes and aim to encourage reflection, inner harmony, and connection between the inner and outer self.
He has developed his own unique artistic style, which he refers to as “Triformist,” which aims to provoke dialogue, joy, introspection, motivation and emotions in viewers. The style encourages individuals to develop their own stories in time and space.
Méndez Robles believes that all artistic media are valid, as well as all languages and music. He values sincerity, proposal, craft and commitment in creative artists.
He has served as chairman of the board of the School of Plastic Arts and Design Corporation of Puerto Rico, as well as president of the Latin American and Caribbean Region of the International Association of Plastic Arts. In addition, he has led the International Association of Art Critics of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican Association of Plastic Artists.
“We recognize Abdías Méndez Robles as an important master in Puerto Rico and we have the privilege of exhibiting 13 of his works, of which 11 are listed in his book Antología de un Artista 30-47,” a statement from the gallery said.
Confirmation of attendance at the exhibition is required by calling 787-723-3206.
