Manatí Mayor José Sánchez González on Monday invited the Puerto Rican community to participate in the northern coastal town’s Fiestas Patronales, which will be held from Thursday through Sunday in the Luis Muñoz Rivera public square.

The traditional event honors the municipality’s patron saint, Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, and features a wide range of musical, gastronomic and cultural offerings.

The plaza and the traditional town center of Manatí will be transformed into a vibrant space where dozens of local artisans will exhibit their creations. In addition, there will be an entertainment area for children, as well as food booths that will highlight the rich cuisine of Manatí.

“Maintaining our customs and traditions is fundamental to our administration,” Sánchez González said. “These festivals offer a unique opportunity to strengthen our sense of community, enjoy quality music and delight in our culture and gastronomy.”

Comprehensive security, parking and transportation logistics are in place to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for all attendees, the mayor noted. There will be a Mass in honor of the Virgin of Candelaria on Sunday (Feb. 2) at 7 p.m.
