Man takes his own life after threatening female partner with gun

A man took his own life in a gender-based violence incident at 12:44 a.m. Sunday in the town of Isabela.
According to the police report, a woman arrived at the Isabela police station and alleged that her partner, Rodolfo González Rojas, 43, a resident of Isabela, had shown up at a business where she worked and aggressively used profanity while pointing a firearm at her. The woman took the gun from his hands and threw it into a field near the business. She then got into his vehicle and as she drove away, he followed her to Felipe Méndez Avenue and fired shots at the vehicle.
The woman was not hit by any bullets and was able to make it to the police station.
Officers arrived at the man’s residence in the Vista del Mar neighborhood to arrest him. The individual, upon seeing the police presence, locked himself inside the residence, and then a gunshot was heard. The officers decided to enter the house and located the man’s lifeless body.
Homicide Officer Edictor Martínez Pérez and Lt. Katherine Hernández Pérez, director of the Domestic Violence Division, were working the case.
