Juan Dalmau Ramírez, the Puerto Rican Independence Party and Alianza de País (Alliance) candidate for governor, announced on Thursday that his wife, attorney Griselle Morales, will be discharged from the hospital after responding successfully to surgery.
“After successfully overcoming the operation and the overnight observation period, the doctors have given us the great news that Griselle will be discharged today, Thursday, in the afternoon,” Dalmau said in a written statement.
Morales underwent surgery on Wednesday to repair the area affected by the brain hemorrhage she suffered and to treat other aneurysms that required protection to avoid future incidents. The lawyer had been hospitalized several weeks ago after suffering a brain aneurysm.
“Together with my children, Gabriel and Sofia, and the rest of the family, we are extremely grateful to the medical and administrative team at the Mennonite Hospital of Caguas for all the care and attention they gave Griselle,” the candidate added.
Dalmau also thanked the people of Puerto Rico for their constant prayers and displays of support “during this difficult period.”
“We thank and appreciate the people of Puerto Rico for their constant prayers on behalf of her health and recovery,” he said.
For the time being, Morales will remain on complete rest at home while she continues her recovery. Dalmau had reduced his participation in campaign activities to address his wife’s health situation, but recently resumed his political commitments in view of the general elections scheduled for next Tuesday, Nov. 5.
