In an event classified as historic, the inauguration ceremonies for Governor Jenniffer González are set to take place on Thursday, January 2, 2025, amid a lively town festival.
Details of the inauguration activities were provided by Francisco Domenech, a member of the organizing committee and former campaign director of the governor-elect, during a press conference held at the Legislature on Sunday.
The day will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a mass at Santa Teresita Church on Loíza Street in Santurce, open to the public. Several events will then take place at the Capitol, including the swearing-in of House and Senate members, the Constitutional Cabinet, and the cancellation of the Pictorial Stamp by the United States Postal Service.
The governor’s swearing-in ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the Capitol’s north side (facing the sea), open to the public. Following the ceremony, Governor González Colón will walk from the Capitol to La Fortaleza and join the town party in Totem Plaza she is offering as a “gift to the people of Puerto Rico.”
The town party, featuring local and international artists like Natti Natasha, Algarete, DJ Playero, Joseph Fonseca, Bri La Pelúa, DJ Nelson, Alberto Stylee, Rey Pirin, Ranking Stone, and Grupo Manía, will commence at 2:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Quinto Centenario (Totem Plaza) in Old San Juan. It will be directed by renowned maestro Cuco Peña, known for his work with the International Salsa Museum. This event will not be funded with public funds, as confirmed by Carlos Bermúdez, a communicator and key organizer of the town party.
