Gov. Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia, joined by Family Secretary Ciení Rodríguez Troche and Office of Management and Budget Executive Director Juan Carlos Blanco, announced on Wednesday the 40 non-profit and faith-based organizations selected to implement priority actions of the Comprehensive Plan for Social Reconstruction and Violence Prevention.

“This plan was created with a multi-sector consensus and is available for the government, the private sector, non-profit organizations and communities to contribute to its implementation,” Pierluisi said in a written statement. “Today, we are announcing that 40 organizations have been selected to receive funding that will enable them to “execute priority actions within the five axes of the plan.”

The Comprehensive Plan focuses on five key areas: transforming behaviors toward a culture of peace, normalizing mental health care, reducing inequality through economic development, enabling the reconciliation of data and interagency services, and expanding public safety mechanisms.

Rodríguez Troche highlighted the importance of multi-sector collaboration to promote a culture of peace in Puerto Rico, stating that although only 40 organizations were selected in this phase, the agency hopes to continue supporting more initiatives in the future.
