Dayanira Díaz receives Comeback of the Year award in Women’s Superior Softball

Guaynabo Mets third baseman Dayanira Díaz was recognized with the Comeback of the Year award for Women’s Superior Softball (SSN by its initials in Spanish) after her outstanding performance during the season.


Díaz dominated the vote with 81 points, besting Kiara Nazario of the Caribeñas de Salinas, who obtained 63 points. Díaz received 12 first-place votes and Nazario six.


In 15 games, Díaz had a .294 average with 10 hits in 34 at-bats and seven RBIs.


Other recognized players were Kisha Barrientos from the Gigantes de Carolina with 27 points, Shaslyan Ortiz from the Criollas de Caguas with eight points and Alyssa Rivera from the Bravas de Cidra with five points.


SSN will announce the Pitcher of the Year award winner today. The Manager of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards will be announced next Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.


Elisa Rosado is Rookie of the Year


Elisa Rosado, also of the Guaynabo Mets, was named Rookie of the Year in SSN after an outstanding first season, the league announced Tuesday.


Rosado, a left fielder, won the title of batting champion with a .500 average, collecting 23 hits in 46 at-bats.


Likewise, Rosado led the voting with 89 points, receiving 15 first-place votes, four second-place votes, and two third-place votes. Angelica Bonilla, a pitcher for the Bravas de Cidra, took second place with 41 points and six first-place votes. Nayali Hernández, from the Valencianas de Juncos, placed third with 19 points.


Other recognized rookies include Carmen Álvarez of Asofem, Isabella Vega of Juncos, Giana Mancha of Sabana Grande, Nayah Pola of Arecibo, Daniela Ríos of Carolina, Sharon Morales of Sabana Grande and Kimberly Torres of Arecibo.
