With a posthumous tribu-te ceremony to eight (8) personalities linked to the Delegation of Puerto Rico partici-pating in the activities of the Puer-to Rican Week Conversation and National Puerto Rican Parade event in New York, the awards and recog-nition event was held for more than one hundred and fifty (150) people who were in the “Big Apple” repre-senting the island this year 2024. The activity held at the headquar-ters of the Association of Members of the Puerto Rico Police had the participation of the well-known or-ganization Group 21 of Washington together with members of the Cham-ber of Commerce of Spain in Puerto Rico, headed by its president Lcdo. Ramón González Simounet, chief executive officer of the EMPIRE Gas Group and the CROEM ALUMNI or-ganization (Association of Graduate Students of the Mayagüez Residen-tial Center for Educational Opportu-nities).
“This activity has been a great suc-cess, since it was possible to cele-brate the first posthumous tribute ce-remony to personalities linked to the Puerto Rican Delegation that travels annually to participate in the Puer-to Rican Week and National Puerto Rican Parade program in New York. The figures honored posthumously are Dr. Ramón S. Vélez Ramírez, for-mer Congressman Robert Bob Gar-cía, Don Ramón González Cordero (founder of EMPIRE Gas), Aníbal Meléndez (former mayor of Fajar-do), Orlando Muñiz Bonet, Gilberto Conde Román (former mayor of Jun-cos) and Dr. Héctor O. Rivera,” said Wilson Nazario, coordinator of the Delegation that travels to New York.
